Getting started
On first launch choose your city, the myth families you like and the hour you usually step outside. Each evening open the Oracle: Zeus shows the clearest hour, the Moon and tonight’s myth. Read it, take the three-question Trial, then use Witness to find the constellation in the sky.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I press “I saw it”?
Witnessing unlocks only when it is dark enough (the Sun more than 10° below the horizon) and the constellation is above your horizon. The Witness screen tells you the next good hour tonight.
How does Zeus choose the Myth of the Night?
First the weather: storms, strong wind or snow, rain and fog bring their own omen myths. Then the Moon: a full moon brings Selene, a clear moonless night the Milky Way. Otherwise Zeus picks a constellation standing high at your clearest hour, preferring myths you have not read and the families you chose. The choice is fixed for the night, so it does not change when you reopen the app.
I live in the southern hemisphere. Does it work?
Yes. Positions are calculated for your exact latitude. Some northern constellations, such as the Little Bear, never rise for you; the Oracle only picks what you can actually see.
Does the app work offline?
All 36 myths, the Trials, the Sky Dome and the Moon phase work without a connection. The last forecast is saved; without one, the Oracle chooses from the stars alone.
Why is a position only approximate?
Olympus marks the centre of each constellation to within a degree or two — ideal for “look south-east, halfway up”. Use the finder hint to spot the brightest star first.
Troubleshooting
- The forecast does not load: check your connection and tap the refresh button on the Oracle. The app keeps working with the stars alone in the meantime.
- Wrong times or sky: make sure the right city is chosen in Temple → Place. Times are shown in that city’s time zone.
- No sound: check Temple → Sounds and your phone’s silent switch.
- Too much movement: turn on Temple → Reduce motion (the app also follows the system setting).
Your data: export, reset and deletion
Open Temple → Your Data to download or copy all your data as JSON, or to erase everything after a confirmation. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device. See the privacy policy for details.
Accessibility
All controls are real buttons with labels for VoiceOver, text uses high-contrast colours, and Reduce Motion calms every animation. If something is hard to use, please write to us.
System requirements
iPhone with a recent version of iOS. An internet connection is needed only for the weather forecast and city search.
